DONATION REQUIREMENTS

In order to donate blood or blood components, it is important to comply with the following requirements:

 

  • The donor must be between 18 and 65 years old and weigh between 50 and 120 kg.

 

  • Must present official photo identification (voter's credentials, driver's license, passport).

 

  • Not to have ingested alcohol or medications two days before the donation. 

 

  • Fasting for at least 8 hours; you can only drink juice after dinner.

 

  • Minimum rest of 6 hours of continuous sleep.

 

  • The donor must be completely healthy, have no symptoms of infections in the throat, stomach, flu, oral herpes (cold sores), dermatitis, warts, recent wounds, allergies, not be diabetic, and not have had hepatitis after ten years of age.

 

  • People with hypertension under pharmacological control may be accepted.

 

  • Not having undergone acupuncture treatment, endodontics, piloelectrolysis (hair removal by electrolysis), or have had tattoos, piercing of the skin or any mucous membrane, earrings, or other adornments in the last year.

 

  • Not having risky sexual practices: sexual relations with persons infected with HIV or chronic hepatitis, prostitutes, or persons of unknown or uncertain serological status.

 

  • Not being vaccinated against influenza, BCG measles, rubella, or any other vaccine made with attenuated bacteria or viruses in the last four weeks before donation.

 

  • Do not wear tight clothing or long sleeves.

 

Women:

  • You shouldn't be pregnant
  • You shouldn't be breastfeeding
  • You can donate six months after delivery (natural or cesarean) or termination of pregnancy due to stillbirth at any gestational age.

 

If the donation is directed (i.e., it is for the benefit of a specific person, either already used or to be used) it is important that the donor knows and indicates the following patient data:

  • Full name
  • Date of birth
    • HIV analysis 

 

BENEFITS FOR THE DONOR

In addition to their altruistic action in support of safeguarding the lives of others, donors are granted analysis of their blood, in serological tests::

  • Hepatitis B and C analysis 
  • Chagas analysis 
  • Syphilis analysis 
  • Brucella analysis 
  • Hematological Biometry analysis 
  • Blood group and RH factor identification

 

Considering the above requirements, the patient will be received by a medical specialist to perform a medical assessment, where the above data will be confirmed, and to deepen the donor's health status. 

 

If everything goes well, a sample will be taken to analyze it quickly and determine that it is suitable to donate.

  • Attention Time:
    • Maximum 1 hour* for whole blood draws. * Time subject to operation. 
    • Maximum 3 hours* for apheresis -removals of hemo-components, ex. platelets-. * Time Subject to operation.
